The birth of byootifull.com

It's time. For years I've been teaching people how to create powerful, graceful bodies through pilates and hoop dance. For me, it's been a mission to create inner as well as outer beauty and help raise everyone to their fullest physical potential.

Along the way I've discovered that achievement in any capacity often includes a spiritual, creative component and that has inspired me to create Byootifull. Byootifull is a place to raise our discussion of health and wellness to include meditation (or mindful activity), spirituality and creativity.  These topics are not exclusive!

Why do we care if our abs are flat, if our thighs are trim, if our butt is lifted? Because somewhere inside, no matter what your lifestyle habits, you know that a strong, powerful body is the key to a happy life. When you are powerful, you have access to a fuller dimension of your life. When you feel good, you have the energy to enjoy your friends and family. You have the strength to support them when they need you. When your mind and body are in tune you can ride your bike, swim in an ocean or just take a stroll through the park with your head up, limbs moving freely and powerfully through your space. To move through life able to experience each moment is a beautiful gift and it happens to be one you can give yourself with the right lifestyle choices.

You only have one body with which to move through this life. Take the time to develop the most powerful, graceful body possible because 1) you deserve it and 2) the world needs you at your best.

About Me

Byootifull.com grew out of my experiences as a pilates instructor and as a dancer. Through teaching movement and advocating healthy lifestyle choices I've been on a mission to create a more byootifull world, one body at a time.

I worked for almost ten years helping the world's most recognizable brands build their digital and traditional marketing programs, including Victoria's Secret, Bank of America, Ralph Lauren and Starwood Hotels. I loved the fast pace and the glamorous clients but I had an unsettled feeling that I had strayed from my love of beautiful images and copy that drew me to advertising in the first place.

I am also a professional trained dancer with a background in classical ballet and modern dance. When the digital industry took a dip I decided to dive into the world of dance full-time and started auditioning in the New York scene. I danced professionally for two years. During the same period I obtained a 600-hour, pilates instructor certification with one of the top pilates training centers in the world. I wanted a way to house the knowledge of movement and the body that I had learned as a dancer and be able to port that knowledge with me wherever I went. If I traveled or went to grad school I would always have a way to make a living.

I learned that the dancer's life was joyful but also unstable in a way that didn't seem sustainable. I returned to advertising again, this time in the media space. I worked at a top digital media agency and learned how to interpret intimidatingly detailed amounts of data. I learned things about Excel that I didn't know existed. But again, that feeling returned: that something was missing, that I needed a bigger piece of the pie that was my own life. With the support of my supervisor and the president of the company, I moved to Shanghai for a year to fulfill my dream of living in the most exciting city in the world. Shanghai made New York look like Cleveland. I taught pilates (in Mandarin Chinese!), was featured on TV and magazines and consulted for an upcoming digital media company. (Advertising is like the mafia to me: just when I think I've gotten out, they pull me back in.)  When I returned from my travels, I focused on developing my own wellness practice based on pilates and dance.

Through these physical channels I teach people to find the flow, power and unique grace in their bodies. I write about mindful movement, seeking beauty in unexpected places and thriving on the creative path. I conduct private classes and workshops and am available for speaking engagements.

Every valuable teacher is also an enthusiastic student so I am here to share, inspire and learn about the sweetest paths to inner and outer beauty.
